M25 Service Station Newsboard

We continue to object to planning applications made by the developers in respect of the Motorway Service Station at Downside.  One of the recent applications was for a variation to increase the number of rooms provided in the lodge building to 85 although there was to be a reduction in floor space.  We objected on the grounds of a possible increase in the number of people spending the night at the Service Station – more traffic, more noise, more use of utilities etc.

The Council permitted the application subject to a referral to the Secretary of State as this was a departure from the Development Plan.  As more and more planning applications are made to the Borough Council in respect of this site, we will do our best to ensure that the views of residents are heard.  Watch this space!
