Planning Applications

We have glanced at the Envisage report which shows the following reactions from those who completed the questionnaire.

  • Small houses required, housing for the elderly (presumably at reasonable prices!),   affordable housing and bungalows were needed.
  • There was strong disagreement to infilling (increasing the density within existing   neighbourhoods).

The need for housing in our area coupled with the “requirement” by Government to build more and more houses in South-East, is recognised.  However, I seem to spend a great deal of my time in my capacity as Planning Officer for the Association objecting to applications which are in effect “infilling” within existing neighbourhoods.  Applications in Copse Road, Hogshill Lane and backland development in Leigh Hill Road are cases in point.  None of the properties for which applications are made will be “inexpensive” if built.  Let us hope the Borough Council and our Councillors recognise what their electorate want and do not want and do their very utmost to ensure that our wishes are acceded to.  -  Sue Kilpatrick
